Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the VeilBox website collects, why it is collected, and how visitors can contact the project about privacy questions.

Last updated: March 29, 2026 Applies to: veilbox.site

Who operates the site

The website is operated by the VeilBox open-source project. At the time of writing, project communication is handled through the public GitHub repository and Telegram channel linked on the website.

What data the site processes

  • Standard server and reverse-proxy request logs.
  • Self-hosted analytics data collected through Umami, such as page views, referrers, device and browser information, and custom events.
  • Download click statistics stored by the VeilBox site backend, including timestamps and a derived visitor identifier.
  • Technical request metadata needed to serve files securely, such as IP address, user-agent, and request path.

How download statistics work

When a visitor clicks the download button, the website records a download click event and stores a derived identifier based on the visitor IP address and user-agent. This helps estimate total clicks and approximate unique visitors. The site does not claim that these numbers equal completed installs.

Why the data is processed

  • To keep the website online and secure.
  • To measure page traffic and download interest.
  • To diagnose abuse, delivery issues, and broken links.
  • To understand which release builds visitors are downloading.

Analytics and cookies

The website uses a self-hosted Umami analytics setup. The VeilBox site is configured to avoid loading advertising trackers. If your browser or extensions block analytics requests, some traffic may not be counted. This website does not currently present a separate cookie banner, so visitors who require consent handling under their local law should stop using the site until they are comfortable with this setup.

Sharing and storage

Analytics and download statistics are stored on infrastructure controlled by the VeilBox project. Data may also pass through the hosting provider, reverse proxy, and CDN or DNS providers involved in delivering the site. Data is kept as long as needed for site operation, release tracking, abuse prevention, or until it is rotated or deleted by the operator.

Your choices

You can reduce analytics collection by blocking scripts, disabling JavaScript, or avoiding the download button. If you need to request deletion or have a privacy question, use the public project contact points on GitHub or Telegram.

Changes

This policy may change as the website, analytics setup, or release process changes. The date at the top of this page shows the current revision.
